Getting festival ready

Summer is here, which means it’s time to get your festival wardrobe ready. Perfecting your festival style is almost as important as catching your favourite act and that includes getting those all important jewellery pieces to add the finishing touches to your look. To set you on the right path to festival fashion glory, we've explored six festival looks, complete with suggestions for jewellery to accessorise each one perfectly.

Woman wearing chain necklaces

So dust off your wellies, dig out your denim shorts, grab your band t-shirts and unbox that cute sundress you’ve been dying to wear. It's time to unleash your festival wardrobe. We'll bring the jewellery pieces to make them shine.

What makes good festival jewellery?

Festival outfits have as many eclectic influences as the different types of music acts you'll see on stage. From the boho hippie look of the 60s and 70s, to 90s grunge, punk rock, country chic and designer disco diva.

The outfits you actually get to wear are, of course, somewhat dictated by the weather and it's possible you could be wearing all of them underneath a waterproof mac. Wellies may or may not be an essential accessory and of course everything you wear may end up covered in splattering of mud.

Luckily all of our six looks go well with wellies and waterproofs - and whatever else you wear, you can rely on your jewellery to bring the sunshine.

Inspired by festival fashion past and present, whatever your usual style, there's something for everyone to try in the fields this summer. They even look good with mud.

Sun goddess maxi-dress magic

The sun goddess is a favourite look for the festival-loving free spirit who loves to hang out at the stone circles and folk tent. This look encapsulates all that is golden about those long, summer festival days and nights. The combination of long, flowing midi or maxi dress and roman sandals is a celebration of summer. We've chosen these bronzed beauties for footwear, but they also come in brown, tan or black. Then we've simply added some celestial gold jewellery to bring the stars and sunshine.

A pretty gold beaded Peachy necklace from Daisy London for instance, interspersed with stones in the colours of sunrise. Add colour or texture to the look with additional chains around the neck, wrist or ankle.

Festival fashion blog boho hippie chic

We've finished the outfit with a pair of gold huggie Starburst hoops from Scream Pretty and Annie Haak’s Astra Star gold charm ring to bring a touch of sparkle even after sunset.

Crochet casuals with an urban edge

Crochet clothing and long skirts are all the rage this season. We love this urban grunge meets hippy-chic combination. The electric blue crochet halter neck paired with a long denim skirt and pink sandals embraces colour with a slightly edgy vibe.

In order to avoid tangles you probably won't want to wear necklaces with the halter neck, unless you have some long dangling beads or chains that won't create a fussy neckline. But this means you can go to town on the bracelet stacks and killer earrings.

We've combined chains and gemstones in an array of textures to complement the crochet and elements of colour in the outfit. Like the bracelet stack of gold chains and soft rainbow colours. We'd also suggest adding a ring or two in complementary colours. Daisy London, for instance, have a range of gorgeous gemstone rings in colours to die for. And we've finished the look with a bossing pair of IX Studios Kim Sunray statement gold hoops.

Dance tent diva

Next stop, the dance tent. Now we all know that there's nothing better than dancing to your favourite tunes as the sun goes down and this special experience deserves a floor stomping outfit to match.

Collection of silver jewellery to go with dance outfit for a festival

We couldn't resist this silver sequin dress from Zara. We’d wear it with silver boots (what else?) and a heap of sleek, silver accessories. Like a silver t-bar necklace. and perhaps a sleek modern cuff bracelet from IX Studios. We've also added a pair of iconic silver squared Rupie hoops from Daisy and a moon-and-star ear stack to for a touch of sparkle. You could add even more sparkle or even a touch of colour with a chunky silver signet ring or ring stack. Check out the range of stunning signet rings from IX Studios to find your favourite.

Woodstock wonder

If you love the original woodstock style this A-line mini dress and denim flip flops combo should be right up your street. Pair the look with gemstones to add accents of colour. Like this double-stranded choker that combines rainbow beads and a gold chain. Then stack your wrist with gold chains and gemstone bracelets. Complete the look with a bouncing pair of gold rope hoops. Cosmic.

Cargo pants and festival chic

Some of us like to combine practicality with style - and there’s nothing more practical than a pair of cargo pants. They’re also super on-trend right now, so there are plenty of variations to choose from. Add to the mix your favourite band t-shirt or cropped tee and you can’t go wrong.

To complete the look, we’ve added chunky silver chains from Thomas Sabo. Their Asymmetric silver and turquoise charm necklace would look amazing with this outfit. And one of Annie Haak’s instant bracelet stacks, with matching silver and turquoise goes perfectly with the above. Just add some funky silver squared hoops and you’re good to go.

Kate Moss classic

Everyone remembers that iconic photo of Kate Moss at Glastonbury when the supermodel rocked a pair of denim shorts and wellies in the muddy fields. Create your own version of this iconic look by swapping out the wellies for some cowboy boots (weather permitting). Add a white blouse or tee and you’ve created your own version of this festival classic.

Collection of festival outfits and jewellery

Accessorise with a necklace stack and incorporate some personalised pieces to make the look your own. Like PDPAOLA’s signature gold letter pendants or Daisy London’s range of cute floral motif pendant necklaces. We also love Olivia Burton’s Pearl Cluster chain. But you can mix-and-match your favourites to curate your personalised style. Try teaming with a beaded bracelet stack of gemstones and pearls to complete the look.

Cargo hippy punk

If you hate being defined by one style, why not take elements from them all and create your very own festival style? We love this cargo mini-skirt and tie-dye top combo with gladiator sandals. Take your pick of the colours to add gemstones in your favourite colour and team it with a pair of punk, lightning strike earrings. Because why not? There are no style rules at festivals, only individualism tops the bill.
