Discover our favourite jewellery tips from the 2023 catwalks so you know what jewellery to invest in and how to get the looks that everyone will want this year.

Treat yourself: jewellery to bring you joy

We’re all having to watch the pennies at the moment, but self care is also essential and finding ways to treat yourself when you can is also important.

Since covid times, jewellery designers have fully embraced fun and frivolous jewellery and this year is no exception. We’re talking glamorous cocktail rings, statement earrings and mighty gemstones. Pieces of jewellery that have one purpose and one purpose only - to bring you joy - and we are totally on board.

We’ve picked out some of the hottest trends from the catwalks for this season and the year ahead, but the common theme for them all is all about expressing yourself and looking after 'you'. Put simply, that means choosing pieces you love and enjoying wearing them, without limits!

Just for you: the personalised jewellery trend continues

In addition to the fun and frivolous trend, the last few years has seen a flurry of personalised jewellery come onto the scene and it looks like this jewellery continues to be a hot topic in 2023.

You’ll find personalised pieces in almost every jewellery designers’ collection these days and more creative takes on personalised pieces are evolving all the time. At couture level, jewellery designers have been inundated with custom jewellery requests, but if you’re looking for personalised items that don’t cost the earth there are plenty of other options to choose from.

Each brand is finding new ways to make jewellery that allows you to include personal details in your look. From initial charms and pendants to pieces you can engrave, zodiac symbols, birthstones and more.

Not forgetting the masters of personalised jewellery like Nomination and Thomas Sabo. The old masters of charm jewellery who continue to create new and innovative ways for you to make your jewellery more personal and charms that reflect your life and interests.

Bold moves: statement jewellery still rocks

In line with the focus on jewellery that brings joy, since the pandemic statement jewellery has been taken to a whole new level. Becoming bigger, bolder, more colourful and more expressive than ever before.

This year that looks set to continue, with giant gobstopper pearls continuing to dominate the catwalks. Not to mention complex crystal combinations and show-stopping earrings. Living life to the max is definitely a theme for 2023.

Go green: colour of the season

Perhaps it’s the lure of Spring on the horizon? Or perhaps we’re all longing for that sense of regrowth and new life that green represents? Whatever it is, green appears to be the colour everyone wants and needs in their jewellery box this season.

Emeralds, of course, are the queen of green and more popular than ever right now. Said to represent reflection, growth and balance, they're definitely a great way to start your year.

Not all of us have the budget for emeralds however, so look out for gemstones like malachite, kyanite and green aventurine, plus jewellery decorated with green crystals, glass or enamel as green alternatives to invest in.

Rings around you: focus on fingers

Rings are a definitely a fashion focus this season, whether you’re wearing a ring stack of dainty numbers, a charm ring or a glamorous cocktail design.

Cocktail rings and ring stacks have been popular for a while, but particularly in vogue for 2023 are a few new additions to the ring family - signet and pinky rings.

Although, of course, pinky rings and signet rings are nothing new, they haven’t exactly been popular since the 70s. On the 2023 catwalks however, they were noticeably present. So dig out your Dad’s old signet ring, or invest in one of your own, like this Roka signet ring by Shyla London.

Heart-shaped heaven

Let’s face it, hearts never really go out of fashion, especially in the season that includes Valentine’s Day. But they haven’t really been a standout feature on the trendy catwalks of recent times. This season however, we have seen a fair few cropping up on on necklaces and other pieces so it looks like wearing your heart on your sleeve (or around your wrist, neck or finger) is definitely back in fashion.
